Lou is Kiddy

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

Yesterday, Steph believed Zach looked at Oscar and said ‘kiddy’. The same thing occurred this morning. I tried to catch it on a video (unfortunately the audio has an echo). If you listen closely, Zach calls Lou a ‘kiddy’ twice. Turn up the volume on this one to hear it - hopefully it comes through.

Docs are signed

Monday, July 10th, 2006

We signed the loan docs and grant deed for our new home today. It officially closes on Wednesday the 12th. One last wire transfer goes to escrow tomorrow and the financial piece is covered. It appears we will get our keys on Wednesday (the original contract was close of escrow plus 3 days - which meant we would get the keys on Saturday).

We ordered our living room and bedroom furniture the other day. Nothing fancy since we have 2 cats, 1dog, and a kid. I really wanted furniture from Village Woodworks in West Seattle, but it was too nice for the abuse it’s going to get. Plus the prices were higher and I doubt they had cool financing like Levitz. Yeah, we bought it at Levitz, but hey, we owe nothing until 2009. Of course we’ll make sure to pay it off sooner so we don’t get hit with tons of interest. The best part of our purchase is the Sealy Posturepedic Euro Pillowtop - very, very nice.

Here are some ok photos I took. I messed with the Mt Rainier photo in photoshop since the photo was pretty drab to begin with. I snazzed it up by messing with the curves setting. The other photo is a shot of the Puget Sound from Lincoln Park…pretty boring, but I took it since it was such a tranquil setting. I did clone out the shadow of my head - that’s cool

Taken from West Seattle a few blocks for our home.

Taken from the south side of Lincoln Park in West Seattle.

Zach had a rough night last night. His molars are coming in so he is teething and it’s not pleasant. We were up from 3 to 5:30…alarm went off at 5:45 :-( After that, Steph has decided she better stay in a Hotel during the Bar - so we made a reservation for her at the Sheraton in Bellevue.

Steph wants everyone to know that Zach and I are traitors. We bought our first Mariners hat. I’ve been wearing it proudly. Seriously, I can enjoy the Mariners, but I will ALWAYS be a Giants fan. Actually, if we get DirectTV and the Sports Pack, we can receive FSN Bay Area…probably easier to just pay for it on MLB.com.

Happy 4th of July

A shot of the Seattle skyline from Queen Anne. Pretty poor lighting, but I’ll be back again to take some sunset and nighttime shots.

Zach (almost) Walking

Check out the latest video. He can push his toys around like the best of them. I say he’ll take his first steps in 2 to 3 weeks.

320 Mile Day Trip

Sunday, July 2nd, 2006

Paul and Zach headed out at 8am on Sunday for Hurricane Ridge (in the Olympic Mountains). Paul decided that going down through Olympia and then up the Olympic Peninsula wouldn’t take too long (maybe 2 hours). We finally arrived at Hurricane Ridge just past noon…yep, 4 hours in the car. Paul was a little wrong about how long the trip would take. But it was definitely worth it. Hurricane Ridge is the prime location to view the Olympic Mountains. Check out some photos.

Tall peaks and steep canyons.

Glaciers on Mt Olympus.

Zach is having a great time.

Mt Baker.

You can see all the pictures here.

For the drive home, Paul smarten upped - he would take the ferry back. This was a much shorter 3.5 hours :-( . Although we got to the drive on the ferry for the first time.
