Beers to Go!!! In Redding??

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

Yes…that’s right. You can get beers to go in Redding. We are staying at the Best Western Hilltop and attached to the hotel is a restaurant called C.R. Gibbs. We each had a 25 oz beer during dinner. While packing up to walk back to the room…I was wondering if they would sell us a beer to go.

No harm in asking. The response…”oh, definitely…but they are only 16 oz, not 24oz. :D

I couldn’t have had a bigger smile. Beers to go! Oh, and it’s good beer…not that Coors Light water crap! I have Widmer Octoberfest (which is very good) and Steph has her staple (Widmer Hefeweizen).

Yes, they look like lattes! Hmmm…I wonder if it’s meant to look that way for a reason.

Zach was a champ in the car. He slept or sat there quietly until Arbuckle. Then we stopped, changed the diaper, and Steph sat in the back feeding him a bottle. He was content the rest of the way.

So far so good…except for the crappy bay area traffic.

More later.

Big Kid!

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

Zachary had his 4 month appointment yesterday. He weights 19lbs 4oz and he’s 27″ tall. I guess he’s off the charts - so above the 100% percentile in weight and at the 100 percentile in height. The doctor isn’t concerned since he’s proportional.

He’s now eating some solids (breakfast and dinner). He seems to like the sweet potatoes and carrots. He’s not a big fan of the rice cereal. The doc says to mix apple sauce with the rice cereal (or some other fruit food).

He’s been a very happy baby…lots of laughs and smiles. He’s definitely becoming more interactive and enjoyable. Tomorrow afternoon we are starting a road trip up to Oregon. That should be interesting…er…fun!

Let’s take the family onto a jetty with a hurricane approaching! Yeah, that would be smart. Notice the girl is blowing away…cmon parents…think.

Labor Day Outing

Monday, September 5th, 2005

So I wasn’t on call today after a long week of pages, and I definitely needed to get out. We started off the day at the Kings Moutain Art Fair.

It was a beautiful day in the redwoods. When we arrived we got a quick bite to eat and a beer. We strolled among the different art booths - not many affordable items. We picked up a game called penny hockey (wood board with pegs and holes at each end - shoot the penny into the opponents hole). We finished off the event by feeding Zach - he cleared out a table for us (you parents know what I mean). That was nice of him.

Next we drove down hwy 84 to the beach. Took this shot of a barn along the way…

We spent some time at Pescadero Beach and Nature Preserve. Zach got to touch the ocean for the first time…and I think he liked it. At least I got a smile.

We ended with a late lunch at Cameron’s Pub in Half Moon Bay. Steph had Clam Chowder and I had Fish & Chips. Upon our arrival at home we did a vertical tasting of Woodside Vineyard Estate Bottled Zinfadel (1999 and 2000). Yummy :-)

Coming up this week - SF Giants games on Thursday night against the Chicago Cubs.
