Zach’s Letter to Grandparents

I miss you and haven’t talked to you for a while, so mommy said I
should write and tell you all about my day. Mommy says that Grandma
likes it when I give lots of detail so I will try my best. I got up
at about 6:45 this morning. I slept well last night despite my ear.
I don’t think mommy told you but I fell down when I was practicing
walking yesterday on the deck. I landed against the wood
railing of the deck with my right ear causing a one inch purple
bruise line on my ear. (But I was brave and only cried for a minute
or so). Anyway, mommy gave me some tylenol before bed last night
because she was worried about it swelling over night. It didn’t and
I slept fine.

Anyway, after I woke up, mommy and I played in my room for a little
while. Just played with the Farm puzzle and some of
the ball toys. But I was hungry for breakfast pretty quick. Mommy
made me an Eggo Waffle, and cut up an entire banana, and a whole
cereal bar for me. I ate everything. It was delicious. I think
breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. After breakfast, I got
dressed. It was a little chilly this morning so mommy put me in
jeans, a long sleeved white shirt and a maroon sweatshirt. We played
a little more in the house but I wanted to be outside so I threw a
couple small tantrums to make sure mommy was aware what I wanted.
Mommy eventually figured it out.

So mommy and I took a stroll to the coffee shop. Mommy got some
fancy latte thing and the newspaper. She then parked me outside and
sat next to me. I watched cars for a half hour. There were trucks
and buses, and police cars, and all sorts of people coming in and out
of the coffee shop. Even though I had eaten breakfast pretty
recently, I had some water and Kix cereal as I watched all the
traffic go by. It was great. Mommy seemed to like it too commenting
about getting a chance to caffeinate herself so she could keep up
with me all day and getting a chance to read the paper.

Mommy and I eventually strolled home. Then I decided to poop for the
first time that day. Mommy, however, noticed it too quickly because
she changed me before I was done. So I did a smallish sized poop,
got changed, and then did a really big poop and had to be changed
again. I guess it is good that mommy changed me in the middle or
else it might have escaped out of the sides of my diaper. So we
played downstairs for a while with the fire-truck and the rocking
horse and just walking around holding on to Lou’s toys and other
things. Then mommy got me in the car and we drove to Bellevue. It
took about 30 minutes to get there because even though it was 9:45,
there was a bunch of traffic merging onto I-5. Not sure why. I took
a 15 minute power nap in the car and I am glad I did since I didn’t
know where we were going.

We ended up at a mall. We strolled around a little bit and ended up
at a place called the “Children’s Museum.” I haven’t been to many
museums but it wasn’t like any museum I had ever heard of. There
were three main rooms filled with stuff for kids to do. I was only
of an age appropriate to play in the room called “the backyard.”
There were all sorts of toys to play with - I especially liked the
trains. I got to walk and crawl around all over. There were some
nooks with musical instruments to bang on and doors to open and
close. There was also a little slide that looked like a big tree
that mommy helped me go down. I was a little scared at first since I
didn’t recognize any of the other kids there. I also was the
youngest kid there, but certainly not the smallest. After a little
time playing, I got more comfortable and mommy had a hard time
keeping up with me. We played there for about 45 minutes. Mommy
then said we had to leave so I could get home for lunch. I didn’t
want to leave but mommy made me. (I threw a little fit, but was over
it by the time we were half way through the mall.)

So mommy and I drove home and then we had lunch. I had a peanut
butter and jelly sandwich and some peas and carrots and peaches. I
ate a lot and it was yummy. Then I went down for a nap. I didn’t
fall asleep right away but was asleep pretty quick. I slept from
around noon til about 2:30. Mommy told me that she did some chores
around the house and finally took a shower during that time (she was
stinky.) After I got up, mommy changed my diaper and found that I
had pooped AGAIN. (Ha!) We then played a lot downstairs. Mommy let
me play with a remote but she didn’t tell me that she had taken out
the batteries first. (That’s why it wouldn’t do anything! Smart
mommy!)  After playing for a while, I
pooped again. Yup, the 4th poopy diaper of the day.

I walked all over the downstairs and tried to pull stuff off the
shelfs and get into trouble. A new favorite game of mine is playing
in the closet of the guest room downstairs. I get very mad when
mommy takes away from me toys that I have found. Today mommy brought
downstairs this cold shiny can with “Diet Pepsi” written on it.
Mommy was not happy when I wanted to play with it. I got MAD when
she took it away and threw a little tantrum. I eventually got over
it. Then Lou and Mommy and I went for a stroll around the
neighborhood. We walked around for about a half hour while I had
some cereal. I really like to snack while we stroll (and look at
cars). Mommy put Lou in the backyard and we continued to hang out in
the front yard. We watched cars for awhile from my stroller, but
that got boring because there are not enough cars that go by. So
mommy took me out of the stroller and I walked around the house
some. I kept trying to walk towards the street to be close to the
cars but mommy wouldn’t let me for some reason. But I did do a lot
of practice walking outside.

Eventually, mommy took me back inside and gave me some toys to play
with in the kitchen while she made me dinner. I had pasta and some
more peas and carrots and some mandarin oranges for dinner. I ate a
lot. Daddy came home while I was just finishing my dinner. After
dinner, I showed daddy how much I have improved on my walking by
walking all over from the kitchen to my bedroom to my parents room
and back numerous times without falling down. Daddy seemed a little
shocked at how good I was walking. (He also seemed a little annoyed
about how much more work it was to keep an eye on me now. I’m not
sure why he feels the need to keep an eye on me, I don’t ever get
into any trouble.) Anyway, we played for a little while. Then mommy
got me in my jammies and to bed. At some point during the day I
pooped again, not sure when, but mommy reminded me that she changed 5
poopy diapers total today (although 2 of those were small). Mommy
read me the Barnyard Dance book and Goodnight Moon. Then sang one
verse of Twinkle Twinkle. I had the hiccups so I didn’t fall asleep
right away, but didn’t stay up too long.

Anyway, so that was my day. I had fun. Back to school tomorrow.
Miss you very much and can’t wait for BOTH of you to visit.

Zacher
