Things Happen in 3s

Well, Steph just completed one of those ‘things happen in 3s week’s.

  1. High blood pressure. Steph is 31 weeks pregnant and last Monday Steph had her biweekly checkup. Her BP was 160 over something…the something was lost in the scare of having the systolic so high. Steph’s normal blood is 110-120/70-76. So having systolic pressure of 160 was frightening. The doctor ordered her to the hospital where she was monitored for 4 hours and they did blood and urine samples. Her blood pressure was normal in the hospital. She returned on Tuesday for additional monitoring. Again the readings were fine. We picked up a BP monitor so she can take her pressure twice per day. So far so good.
  2. Sprained ankle. Steph slipped on the stairs leading into our garage Friday after work. She didn’t fall so the baby is fine. But she tweaked her ankle pretty well. I guess it’s tough to navigate stairs when you can’t see your feet. This meant I was pulling double duty this weekend…no problem, I got things done and was only mildly cranky. Her ankle was feeling better today…she even got some laundry done :-)
  3. Power Outage. On Saturday we headed up to the Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco to see the musical, Evita. Sometime between 7:30pm and 8:00pm a power outage hit a 10 block region of San Francisco including the Golden Gate Theatre. The show did not go on :-( We waited till around 8:20 when they announced the show was cancelled. It turns out there was a fire in a PG&E substation and the power was out for several hours.

So, those are Steph’s 3 items. Hopefully that’s all the excitement we see until the baby is born.
